The show must go on, so the morning of the 7th day of our training course #CATEYEbyCET continued with the participant-led activities, testing and evaluating them before we include them into a Toolbox of non-formal educational activities for youth engagement, improvement of key competencies, intercultural learning and addressing social issues.
The first team to perform this morning was composed of Agnieszka, Nina and Kutay who did a ‘Soup of Words’. Their activity aimed to improve the intercultural learning of participants by analyzing the similarities and differences between various cultures. Their activity focused on language-learning activities, enabling participants to see linguistic similarities between different nationalities as well as to learn about learn about cultural differences that are not apparent at the first sight
The next team targeted ‘Social issues of the Youth’ which through experiential learning aimed to educate participants and raise awareness about cyber-bullying through first-hand examples as well as promoted reducing usage of phones and overall improvement of mental health of young people. This very important and relevant topic of youth sparked a great discussion in the plenary.
After the well-deserved coffee break, next on the stage were Ekaterina, Przemyslaw and Raluca who did a creative activity named ‘What you don’t see’. The main aim of their activity was to understand the struggles that are faced by different groups of people, in order to combat discrimination in the workforce and foster their inclusion in society.
The last team to perform did a very interactive, competitive, fun and complex non-formal activity that would be great for getting-to-know each other and team building on the beginning of a youth project. ‘Find me’ was an activity that fostered teamwork, familiarizing with each other and intercultural learning through series of games and clue-hunting. It was very challenging for the performing team to do their complex activity in only 25 minutes, but the reward was that they could clearly see how their activity could be refined and improved through the process of facilitation in such a short time.
All of the teams received constructive feedback on their performance, quality of activity, used methodology and learning process. Everyone got positive comments for their developed activities as well as tips that can improve their facilitation and debriefing skills.
