We started the second day of our training course “Comedy as a Tool – Enhancing Youth Engagement through Humor” with activities to get to know each other better by doing different ice-breakers and name games. Firstly, we said the meaning of our names and an anecdote surrounding our name. Then we did an activity where we said our names and our zodiac signs. To really memorize our names, we did the activity where we needed to say our name and do a specific gesture, which everyone needed to repeat and say our names loudly and clearly.
When we got to know our names better, it was time to do the fun activity where we draw our faces, and we talked to the person that is next to us. We introduced ourselves more deeply and then the person next to us had to introduce us as if they are trying to impersonate us.
After the coffee break, it was time to do some explaining about formal, non-formal and informal education. We got to understand what the main differences, similarities and characteristics are. At this point, we also spoke about rules for the training course, that everyone should respect in order to ensure safe, comfortable and active participation. We also got a ‘secret friend’ that we need to make happy throughout the week by giving gifts and making surprises for him/her.
We concluded the morning activities by sharing our expectations from the training course, how we can contribute to its success as well as the fears that might stop us in the learning process.
